In collaboration with museum angewandte kunst Frankfurt, Ata Macias, creative entrepreneur, musician, Dj and renowned local hero presented his oeuvre in a multifaceted exhibition.
To display the extensive archive of Ata Macias, MESO conceptualised a digital light installation that highlighted the different creative phases of his ‘applied arts’ approach. Nine overlapping projectors blending an encyclopaedic collage of photographs, record covers, sketches and graphics were controlled by a center-mounted rotary disc.
The keystone distortions of projections are partly left as an technical artifact and partly compensated by a specially written software to blend different elements together. Custom-designed software allowed visitors to explore the retrospective with the disc by just shuffling through or viewing work in detail.
