We were proud to be asked for the fourth time in a row to be part of the website project team for our favorite University of Art and Design in Offenbach, Germany. For the first time, the visual design and basic frontend concept was created by a student team around Prof. Alexander Oppermann – and they did a great job hitting the thin line between chaos and usability that represents best what the hfg is all about.

In a very agile process Mathias Wollin and Martin Schuster from MESO Digital Services threw in all their knowledge about how to bring a concept like this to life, and together with the team tried to keep as close as possible to the student’s proposal. And with some hard work, nearly all of the features were possible: random-like graphic elements, multi-column javascript layouting with responsive rules for text reflow, live hyphenation, also in javascript, and still a readable rendering on most even older browsers. Together with a custom made CMS for content editing by all members of the hfg we think this website might again last a few years – maybe not necessarily the nearly 10 years (!) the previous version of the website lasted…

hfg5 Web System for HfG Offenbach

Conception and creation of a visually reduced but detailed web and collaboration system that suits the needs of both the people who work and study there and the ones that don’t (yet).
